About this project

We worked with Conservation Volunteers Australia and a third-party software development company, to completely rework their online volunteer booking system. Acting as product manager on CVA’s behalf, Flax Digital liaised between the software company and the non-profit to define requirements, set timelines, review and test development, and manage the launch of the revamped application including providing training to the client’s staff on the new backend.

The result of the project was to simplify volunteer bookings, reduce data entry for staff, and simplify the website by removing duplicated projects. By removing duplicated projects, we also improved the search engine visibility of relevant projects, and increased organic search traffic to project pages.

Project scope

  • User interface design and testing
  • Responsive (mobile-friendly) design
  • Technical communication and documentation
  • Agile software development methodology
  • Complex data migration
  • Search engine optimisation
  • Integration between WordPress and a custom application

We had the pleasure of working with Alex as the project manager and SEO manager on a complex corporate web project. Alex is a highly competent PM and their work in SEO was exceptional. The SEO industry is overrun by snake oil sales people making promises they can’t keep and Alex by comparison used their engineering background to systematically review the available analytics data and make insightful updates effectively doubling search traffic for what was already a high volume corporate website. I’d highly recommend Alex for any complex SEO projects and certainly for general web development.
